The Partnership is a group of 23 parents, business leaders, school and governmental officials, and students dedicated to combating substance abuse in Milford Junior and Senior High.

In February of this year, the Partnership distributed a survey to the community to determine the extent and concerns related to drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse among Milford and Miami Township teens. The results were used to direct discussion at the March 4 Youth Summit. This day-long event was attended by approximately 70 randomly selected 7th through 12th graders.

The Youth Summit was tremendously successful. The teens gave honest and detailed accounts of the benefits and challenges of living in the area. They also provided insight into the attitudes toward alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and illegal drug use and abuse among local students. Finally, the participants provided insightful suggestions as to what would and would not work in curbing substance abuse among teens.

The April 23rd Forum is an opportunity for these students to tell parents and the community what is actually going on in Milford and Miami Township. It will also allow the teens to convey community-specific suggestions for tackling substance abuse.
